Comment on Standing up!

I exchanged little holiday e-mails with Billy over at www.puppetgov.com . Afterwards, I got to thinking about folks who actually stand up for rights, ideals, the underdogs in the world. I cannot support George Bush's war in Iraq, I cannot support relegious ideologues who run around pushing their agenda in my face (this includes all relegions), I cannot support efforts that tell women the have no right to choose and no right to privacy, and cannot tolerate liars running my country. So, on that note, I would like to thank every person who has had the backbone to STAND UP! AND SAY I KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG! This old movie clip came to mind, and I am a huge fan, so sharing it is a must.

  1. I too believe we should all stand up for what is right, or in some cases what we believe to be right. Unfortunatly we do not all agree on what is right or wrong, which everyone is entitled to thier opinion. I also believe we should not bully anyone into standing up for something they can not stand behind 100%. So if we want everyone to stand up for what they believe is right we also can not knock them down because we disagree. I guess that shows I stand in the middle of the road at times. Not only must we stand up, we must also stand behind!! Enjoyed the video clip, a classic!!

  2. Jules, all you find in the middle of the road is yellow lines and roadkill. We are a country of laws, and when average people break laws they are held accountable. When politicians and Presidents break the law,oh hell, they change the law. People much older than you and I, always tell me they have never seen anything like this. Republicans and Democrats tend to not get along on certain issues, not a myth, but fact. I know you know the difference between right and wrong. There is little we disagree on, Foreign Policy may be the only thing? I'm not sure. Tactically, it might be a good idea for Democrats to behave like Republicans as Cenk Uygur allowed a Congressman to suggest. It's the wedge issues that divided us. A woman's right to choose, hell yeah! But I am a man, I don't get to vote on it or protest for or against. There's a new law. Freedom of Speech, fuck yeah, I get to say or question anything I want in a Democracy. Gay-Marriage, well I have seen a male couple and thought, I am going to be gay, that looks really good! Leave these people alone. I am sure we still agree? Attacking a country that was not threatening us, or had no ties to Al Qaeda or 9/11. Not a wedge issue, a reality that has to stop. Spying on American citizens? Secret Prisons? Torture? Voter fraud? Voter disenfranchisment? Habeas Corpus? These are issues, that EVERYBODY needs to STAND UP for! That will help the county's well-being. Then we can get back to basics, you know, debating a white stain on a blue dress, parental advisory stickers on cds, underground clubs et al. You know, the trivial shit! Cheers!
