Your tax cuts at work

The current tragedy in Minnesota is yet another reason to see endless tax cuts come to an end. Paying taxes are a burden on everyone, yet we must recognize that paying taxes are an investment in our communities and country. The Minnesota House of Representatives worked to put forth a "gas tax" that would provide investments in transportation, yet it was blocked by Republican reps.
The current trend of Conservatives to not raise taxes on anything, including the half-wits at Americans for Tax Reform support tax cuts for the highest 1% in the country and pay no attention to the devastation that has been witnessed in infrastructure around the country. I am not pleased at forthcoming tax hikes, but I will say I would gladly encourage it if it were were spent on bridges, levees, armor for our troops, and housing for the poor. Instead of privatizing our roads we could let our tolls go to the states, not some fat cat getting fatter. I would rather see the entire country sacrifice to help our troops in a stupid war instead of giving no bid contracts to Halliburton . You get my point here. Our founders, from both parties, knew what sacrifice was, as did many leaders that followed. They understood that community meant all of us, and we all must contribute.
I am sure you might expect a tirade from me lashing out at Republicans now, but this is for all of OUR EMPLOYEES, our elected Reps. Abolish the Republican tax cuts, invest in our own country, be proactive, and prevent future levees being breached, and future bridges from crumbling down. This irresponsible cut and spend mentality is rather reminiscent of our favorite childhood story...Humpty Dumpty.

  1. Rather odd how you can blame tax cuts for this bridge when federal spending on roads is up. More than that, it's a state matter how they spend their federal dollars. They chose NOT to spend money on that bridge thinging they could put off repairs longer. The federal government, no matter what you liberals think, is not responsible for everything under the sun, nor should it be. States and individuals ARE responsible for themselves. Facts, my friend, are always getting in the way of your stories, but I fear that won't stop you from telling them.
